Quieting your inner critic

Quieting your inner critic

The inner critic speaks in absolutes: “always,” “never,” “not enough.” It often sounds like an old, borrowed voice rather than your own. Noticing it is the first step toward loosening its grip.

Catch it, then question it

When you hear the critic, pause and ask: would I say this to someone I love? Most of the time the answer is no. That gap is where a kinder, more accurate thought can grow.

You are not trying to silence the voice by force. You are learning to hold it lightly, and to choose which thoughts you act on.
